Overview of Ansteel Heavy Machinery’s Forging and Rolling-Roller Production Capacity and Performance

Since introducing the 8,000 ton hydraulic press from Germany in 2005, Ansteel Heavy Machinery has consecutively established a fully integrated, inhouse production line—from raw ingots to finished work rolls. Today, the company operates an 80 MN hydraulic press and a 350 t overhead crane capable of forging large alloy-steel backup rolls and hot-rolling work rolls up to 1,800 mm in diameter and 130 t per piece, fully meeting the exacting specifications and performance demands of highend rolling mills.

A. Heat Treatment Facilities

  • Energy Efficient Gas Furnaces: Multiple furnaces ranging from 4 × 16 × 4 m to 3 × 6 × 3 m, enabling heat treatment of large rolls.
  • Low Temperature Quenching Furnaces: Four tempering furnaces for precise metallurgical control.
  • Differential Temperature Furnaces & Spray Quench Machines: Maximum throughput: 60 t net weight; 1,600 mm diameter; 7,000 mm length.
  • Induction Heating Units: Furnaces in various sizes—2.5 × 2.5 × 7 m, 3.2 × 2.5 × 6 m, and 1.6 × 2.5 × 6 m—plus a 1.8 × 2.7 m differential temperature furnace and a 1.8 × 6 m horizontal spray quench machine, ensuring uniform temperature distribution and efficient throughput.

B. Machining Equipment

  • Heavy Duty Lathes: Bed lengths of 8 m, 14 m, and 15 m.
  • CNC Lathes & Turn Grind Machines: Enables one-pass, high-precision turning and grinding—from rough turning and finish turning to precision grinding on roll-grinding machines.

A complete process flow—ingot → forging → heat treatment → machining → inspection—ensures every roll meets the JB/T 41202006 standard for “Large Alloy Steel Forged backup rolls.” Common materials include 45Cr5NiMoV, 50Cr5MoV, and 70Cr3NiMo.

C. Production Capacity & Performance

  • Annual Output: 100–120 finished forged rolls (diameter φ1.0–φ1.8 m; length ≤ 2.4 m).
  • Manufacturing Cycle: 4–5 months per roll.
  • Key Customers: Ansteel’s hot and cold strip mills, plus major Chinese steelmakers such as Panzhihua Steel & Vanadium, Guangzhou Lianzhong, Tangshan Yanshan, Jiangsu Shagang, and Baotou Steel.
  • Exclusive Contracts: Since 2010, sole supplier of backup rolls for Panzhihua Steel’s 2,050 mm wide strip mill, with years of stable operation and excellent feedback.

With its robust equipment, rigorous quality-control system, and deep industry expertise, Ansteel Heavy Machinery has become a leader in domestic large-alloy forged roll production. Moving forward, the company will continue to optimize processes and innovate technologies to enhance efficiency and product performance, delivering diverse, high-end roll solutions to rolling-mill customers worldwide.
